“We learnt of his sickness and we have been praying that God heals him. But again it is God who gives and it’s Him who takes away. There are many questions that are being asked about why God has taken him away at this moment when we needed him most. It is only God who can answer that question,” Archbishop Kaziimba said.

“Oulanyah has been a member of our Church. He was very committed and generous. Not long time ago, he brought 100M towards Church House debt clearance. He went ahead and mobilized members of Parliament to do the same and they responded positively. We knew him as a man who wanted a fair and just society, a peacemaker, a champion of dialogue and harmony,” he said.

President Museveni has directed that all flags in Uganda fly at half-mast until the burial of fallen Speaker Jacob Oulanyah. Museveni delivered his directive through Twitter on Monday, “Countrymen and Countrywomen Yesterday, at about 12.40 pm, it was my sad duty to announce the untimely death of our Speaker, the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, MP for Omoro. Today, I add the following:

I extend my condolences, the condolences of my family and of all Ugandans to the children of Oulanyah and to his wider family. The government and the NRM will always stand with them. I will say more about Rt. Hon. Oulanyah in the coming days
.Secondly, I have activated the National Organizing Committee, under the Hon. Babalanda, to organise the official burial of the Late Speaker. They know what to do.
.Thirdly, I direct that the flags in Uganda fly at half- masts until the burial of the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah. This is provided for in the official burials’ procedures.”

Several Christian leaders and pastors in Uganda have paid tribute to former Speaker Jacob Oulanyah who died recently in a hospital in Seattle, USA.

According to local media sources, the government will issue an official statement about the burial arrangements of Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah on Tuesday
