The effects of COVID19 have hit the Christian Church so hard causing many to plead with the national leaders to open up churches. In the previous letter President Yoweri Kagutta museveni sent to the nation, he highlighted that it was important to keep churches closed so as to protect the followers’ advice that very many church leaders in Uganda heeded to.
Using his social media account, the president wrote: ‘A certain Ugandan came to me and told me that God had told him in a vision that I should organise National Prayers, scientifically organised, for God to deliver us from COVID 19.
Therefore, by the powers given to the President of Uganda by Section 2(2) of the Public Holidays Act, I declare the 29th of August 2020, a day of National Prayers and a Public Holiday. Stay in your houses or Compounds and pray.
I have invited a few religious leaders to come to Entebbe State House and pray together with Janet and myself when you are all watching on TV or listening on Radios. I appeal to all Ugandans to join this massive act of supplication”
He furthermore added a scripture to emphasize the need for this action. Matthew chapter 7 verse 7. It says: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Stay at home and join in this prayer.
