Shocking allegations made by Christian Life Church Pastor, Jackson Senyonga about mass graves by Pentecostal leaders are a gimmick to get President Yoweri Museveni’s attention.
This is according to Pastor Martin Ssempa of the Makerere Community Church who says the situation is set to worsen.
“This is a fight on who can appear to Yoweri Museveni as the real Balokole (Pentecostal) leader. It’s getting hot as we approach the election season. I Wonder why Ssenyonga chose this route!” Pastor Ssempa tweeted on Thursday.
Last Friday, Senyonga made a starling allegation in the presence of President Yoweri Museveni at Mandela National Stadium saying Pastors in Uganda
“We know of mass graves in Uganda and these pastors are behind it. I am ready to lead the police and investigators to links of where they can go and know what to do,” Ssenyonga said to loud applause from the congregation.
Now Pastor Ssempa believes it is a ploy by the pastor to try and gain favor from the President in the run up to the country’s 2021 general elections.
Sources in the Pentecostal movement reveal that there is an ongoing ‘battle’ by the different leaders to prove among themselves who has the biggest influence so as they can be favoured by the government in terms of being considered for any privileges that may come towards the elections. Being seen near the president, the centre of power gives them ‘bragging rights’ the source reveals.
The source adds that the president looks up to the Pentecostal movement for support because of their numbers.
Born Again Christians are now believed to be an estimated 3.9 million in Uganda.
Last month, Museveni met a group of Pastors and evangelists from across the country. They were mobilised by Pastor Robert Kayanja of Rubaga Miracle Centre.
Senyonga’s claims also drew sharp criticism from the Pastor Josepj Serwadda, the Presiding Apostle of Born Again Faith Federation in Uganda.
Serwadda has since warned that Senyonga will be considered among the fake pastors if he doesnt make good of his allegation.
