Contemporary worship music collective, Maverick City Music and Gospel music icon, Kirk Franklin, were among the big winners at the 2023 Grammy Awards which was held yesterday at the Crypto Arena in Los Angeles.
The Christian worship collective with Kirk Franklin won in all four Christian categories – Best Gospel Performance/Song (“Kingdom” feat. Naomi Raine & Chandler Moore), Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance (“Fear is Not My Future” feat. Brandon Lake & Chandler Moore), Best Contemporary Christian Music Album (“Breathe”) and Best Gospel Album (“Kingdom Book One” Deluxe).
The Maverick City Music label was launched in 2018, as a result of song-writing camps which brought together over 100 Christian artists and songwriters.
Meanwhile, The Tennessee State University Marching Band won the Best Root Gospel album for their project, “The Urban Hymnal”.
