Kenyan politician, Gideon Moi has spoken of his late father’s passion for the service of God.
Gideon said this while eulogizing his father, Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, Kenya’s second president who passed on last Tuesday
The funeral service was held at Nyayo Stadium in Kenya’s capital Nairobi on Tuesday.
“Mzee Moi dared to be great. He dedicated his love and life to serving this nation. Above all he was passionate about service to God and it is his faith in God that gives us hope today when he is no more,” Gideon said.
Gideon is the last born of the fallen leader.
Moi, the country’s longest-serving leader died at the age of 95 – nearly two decades after leaving office.
He has been praised for his faith in God and famously is remembered for famously asking those he had wronged to forgive him and saying he had done the same to those who offended him.
His body will stay at the Lee Funeral Home overnight then be flown to Mr Moi’s home in Kabarak on Wednesday morning
Mourners will congregate at Kabarak School near the former president’s home, where only few close family members will be allowed inside.
Thousands will be following the burial proceedings through giant television screens that have been mounted at Nakuru county’s Afraha Stadium.
