In a sensational music event that took place last week, Nabbosa, a rising star in the Ugandan music industry, showcased her exceptional talent and mesmerized the audience with her soulful melodies. The event marked a significant milestone in Nabbosa’s career, as she took center stage and captivated the hearts of her fans at her maiden concert that happened at Kapala Serena Hotel on 28th April 2023.
Having gained recognition through her collaboration with Bugembe and their popular hit song ‘Oli Katonda’ in 2016, Justine Nabbosa had already tasted success. However, she knew that it was time to spread her wings and embark on a solo career. Despite initial reservations, Nabbosa stepped out of her comfort zone three years ago and began experimenting with different compositions.
The journey to establishing herself as a solo artist was not without its challenges. Her early solo releases struggled to gain traction. But everything changed when she unleashed ‘Oli Katonda.’ The song quickly became a sensation, dominating the airwaves and solidifying Nabbosa’s place in the music industry.
For Nabbosa, music has always been a passion, a form of ministry rather than a means of income. She credits Pr Wilson Bugembe, whom she considers a mentor, for paving the way and providing invaluable support. Nabbosa’s collaborations with Bugembe not only made her voice known to the public but also opened doors for her. The industry was eager to embrace her solo music when she decided to make the leap.
Reflecting on their first encounter in 2002 during her Senior Four long holiday, Nabbosa remembers attending Bugembe’s first concert, which served as a turning point in her life. Since then, she has had the privilege of building a close relationship with Pr Wilson Bugembe through school exchange fellowship meetings, and together, they have touched the lives of countless people through their music.
Justine Nabbosa‘s journey has taken her far beyond the borders of Uganda. On April 24, 2017, she held her maiden solo concert, and since then, she has embarked on a global tour, using her music as a medium to spread her message and touch souls across the world.
Born and raised in Kamuli, Eastern Uganda, Nabbosa is the middle child among nine siblings in the Kiyingi family. She is a distinguished graduate of Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Makerere University, with several accolades in her ministry work.
Last week’s event not only showcased Nabbosa’s incredible talent but also celebrated her remarkable journey as a solo artist. It served as a reminder that with passion, perseverance, and the support of mentors like Pr Wilson Bugembe, dreams can be turned into reality. Nabbosa’s music continues to inspire and uplift, leaving a lasting impact on all who have the privilege of experiencing her soul-stirring performances.
