Speaking during a mass wedding at United Christian Centre – Kasubi on 17 November, Dr Senfuma emphasized that a heartfelt confession brings about greater levels of understanding and transparency.
He likened marriage to the relationship Christ has with church.
14 couples exchanged their vows at the colorful event.
“A wedding is not valid unless the man and woman exchange their marriage vows. In the same way, one is not born-again unless he or she makes a confession unto salvation,” he said, quoting Romans 10:9.
“If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved,” the scripture reads.
“I have heard some say they are born-again internally but have not made a verbal confession. That is not how it should be done. Once you believe in your heart, you confess with your mouth,” the Bishop added.
He used his speech to briefly share a testimony about how he came to abandon evil practices and embrace Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.
“Before I became born-again, my mother and father were witch doctors. My father was high in rank, and used to teach and recruit others into the practice. It is all I grew up knowing – after worshiping the evil spirits we would lose all sense of understanding. I however give God the glory that I got saved in 1986. God has given me abundant peace,” he said.
“A marriage is not complete if one of the partners has not given their life to Christ. When you do this, you enter into a new covenant with Christ,” he said.
Dr Senfuma pointed the congregation towards biblical thinking and confession.
The free mass wedding includes couples living together out of wedlock. They thanked the Church for giving them the opportunity to tie the knot.
Getting married, according to them, is a blessing because this legalized and sanctified their relationship.
