President of the United States of America, Donald Trump has made a bold declaration regarding the reopening of houses of worship in the country.
The President enthused during a press briefing on Friday that governors should allow churches, synagogues, and other places of worship to hold in-person services immediately — warning to overrule them with unspecified authority if they disagree.
“The governors need to do the right thing and allow these very important essential places of faith to open right now, for this weekend. If they don’t do it, I will override the governors,” President Trump stressed in his remarks to reporters on Friday, suggesting that his administration has created detailed guidance for religious institutions for how to safely reopen amid the virus.
“Some governors have deemed liquor stores and abortion clinics as essential” but not churches, he said. “It’s not right. So I’m correcting this injustice and calling houses of worship essential.”
“These are places that hold our society together and keep our people united,” further emphasizing that the country needs more prayers than less of it.
