The annual Vine Entertainment Awards which celebrate and reward Christians who are extraordinarily impacting their spheres of influence occurred yesterday the 27th June 2021. The Christian fraternity in Uganda always looks forward to these awards and this year the expectation was high since they would be hosted in a physical event. However, due to the raise of Corona Virus cases in Uganda, and locking down the country for 42 days since 18th June 2021, the awards had to be hosted online. The event was streamed live from Youtube and Facebook.
The preparation for these awards have been ongoing and only content released between January 2020 until November 2020 was valid for the awards. . The list of successful nominations was released in March 2021 and hence voting.
The 2021 Vine Entertainment Awards consisted of 20 categories which included The African Act, Ugandan Artist, Album, Video, New Artist, Dance Group, DJ, Spoken word, Comedian, and song of the year ., Business, Family, Media, Education, Film, Social Impact, Sports, Leadership/ Governance, Junior Impact, and Honorary awards.
At the end of last night, Coopy Bly also known as Kusasira Edwin Sserwanga Scooped the Award for Artist of the Year. Coopy bly has released four songs, Tujjakuwona, right now, tewelabira kusaba and Embuutu between January and November 2020. All these songs have been popular and enjoying massive media play across all radio, TV stations, and music streaming channels.
This award comes in as a double blessing to the artist who has just welcomed a new baby two weeks ago.
