After a socially distanced ceremony in 2020, the 52nd Annual GMA Dove Awards ceremony co-hosted by Natalie Grant & Jonathan McReynolds, returned to its usual spectacle before a packed house at the Lipscomb University’s Allen Arena, in Nashville.
Originally held on Oct 2021, Organisers of the show ensured that the exclusive coverage of the event was aired on Friday night on Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN), with notable gospel celebrities and promising new faces emerging winners on the night.
Gospel icon, Cece Winans emerged as one of the top winners taking home four (4) awards including Gospel Artist of the Year, Gospel Worship Album of the Year (Believe for It), Inspirational song of the year (“Great Is Thy Faithfulness” with Underwood) and Gospel Worship Recorded song of the Year (“Believe for It”).
Meanwhile, rock/pop duo For King & Country was crowned Artist of the Year for a second time in a row, with their season celebration album “A Drummer Boy Christmas” recognized as the Christmas/Special Event album of the year.
Other notable winners at this year ceremony include; Atlanta worship group Maverick City Music who were recognized for their amazing efforts thus far as the New Artist of the Year, Lecrae (Deep End) for Rap/Hip Hop Recorded Song of the Year, Dante Bowe (Joyful) for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year amongst others.
