Jonah Kalungi, is a Ugandan, born again Christian, studying at Kyambogo University. Born in a Christian family, and a product of Zabuli’s Can You Praise Talent search which he joined meeting new people like Zabuli Dreign, John Marie, and after the competitions he was introduced to the studio later becoming a recording artist. The famously known “Ndiwuwo Kululwo” artist had time to share his life experiences that changed his life with Vine Pulse
VP: What is your background?
Jonah: I am a Ugandan, from a humble background, a student at Kyambogo University, a business person, song writer, Worship leader and speaker. Growing up in a Christian family was not a guarantee for rightful living,
as a teenage I went to church on Sunday and joined my boy gang on Monday, at school and lived otherwise.
This as all seemingly cool till I had my first experience with the presence of God in a worship session at school and that transformed my life. Now as a speaker,
I speak against the very things that left very scars on my heart. And sing about the beautiful God that gives Grace for a person who was like me to speak.
VP: What is your real name? (Do you have a stage name)
Jonah: My name is Jonah Kalungi( works as my stage name as well)
VP: When did u get saved?
Jonah: I get saved almost every day but I confessed Christ as my personal savour on 12th December 2010.
VP: When did you start singing?
Jonah: I started singing way back in Sunday School but I started out as a recording artist in 2019.
VP: What inspired you to become a gospel artists?
Jonah: My experience with God. This has continuously stirred me to have a yearning to see people’ heart burning with a desire to worship God for who He truly is.
VP: Ever thought of switching to secular music?
Jonah: Haha No. The Truth in Jesus Christ is sweeter than anything. You can’t experience God and turn back. No!
VP: How have you developed your career?
Jonah: Through relating with individuals and teams of people that are ahead of me. This is helping me make better decisions and also appreciate the progress of growth.
VP: Do you see your career impacting lives?
Jonah: Yes. I have testimonies on my social media platforms of how the ministry has helped them be better, helped them heal from depression, encouraged them to continue and also increased them in knowledge. And this is the greatest gift.
VP: What challenges have you faced so far and how have you solved them?
Jonah: I have faced a challenge with the reception of my music as a new artist. But this is being made better with Time. As time goes by, people understand the sound.
VP: How many nominations do you have? and how many awards have you achieved so far?
Jonah: I have not been nominated or awarded in any nationally recognized Awards.
VP: How do you see your career in the next decade?
Jonah: I see Greatness, I see people continuing to embrace sound the more.
VP: Any artists you look up to? and If you had chance to make a collabo with any international artist who would it be?
Jonah: I look up to many artists and teams from the international and Ugandan scene. I look up to William McDowell, Jonathan Mcrenolds, Nathanel Bassey, Pastor Brian Lubega, Apostle Grace Lubega, Pr. Isaac Sserukenya, Zabuli among others. I would love to collaborate with Pr. William McDowell.
VP: Any advice to upcoming artists or those that aspire to be like you?
Jonah: Seek God for who He is. He alone is the holder of hearts of Men. He has called Us from Greatness not stardom.
