Umar Mulinde, a former Muslim turned-Pastor, has unveiled a new online gospel channel that seeks to reach the Muslim world for Christ, and strengthen Christian audiences with solid Biblical teaching and personal discipleship.
Mulinde revealed on Sunday that through Truth & Freedom Radio, he has started reaching out to several listeners, including audiences in closed countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran and Qatar.
“We have established it, and it’s being listened to by a number of people around the world,” he said.
“As you know I was a Muslim. I got converted. And I’m not allowed to go to Arab countries. If I go to Saudi Arabia, my head can be cut off. But right now our radio is being listened to in Saudi Arabia; Jeddah and Mecca,” he said. “Recently somebody called me and was listening to me preaching, and it was in Mecca. We have listeners in Qatar, Iran, and other other places, Europe and America.”
In 2011, Pastor Mulinde who is the founder of Gospel Life Church International, was attacked by Muslim extremists following his conversion to Christianity from Islam. He lost sight in one eye, had facial disfigurement, and suffered a tracheal (or windpipe) injury, among many other health concerns. Mulinde went through several years of painful, specialized treatment in Israel and India.
Mulinde said: “In India, the doctors told me I had a one-percent chance to live, but miraculously God helped me.”
Truth & Freedom Radio is designed to evangelize Muslim audiences and equip believers.
Aside teaching and preaching, Pr Mulinde said he will be answering questions concerning faith and God.
“The Lord has been so faithful. He has given me grace, to teach pertinent issues and address matters of concern of both local and global nature,” he said.
“We are ambassadors of truth, and truth cannot be sacrificed. We need to share this truth. This is online radio and you can access it from everywhere,” he said.
“I want to encourage you to continue to be ambassadors of truth. Love God. Take the Word of God as it is. Don’t make any games in the Word. God is God and we have to respect His Word and take it as it is. He’s wiser than anybody. And He’s Almighty,” he continued.
“For those of you who have relatives who went to those [Muslim] countries to work, share the link of the radio with them so that every day they have an apostolic message,” he added.
