Churches across England will be holding ‘light and bright parties’ as an alternative to Halloween parties this weekend.
Rather than ignoring the celebration, churches will open their doors to host games, and arts and crafts and even provide an opportunity to light a candle in remembrance of someone special in the eve of All Saints.
The 31st of October, known as Halloween by many, originates from the phrase “All Hallows Eve” meaning the night before the church’s festival celebrating All Saints.
The Church of England has also created a search engine on their website to find local churches hosting ‘light and bright parties’.
Within the Cambridgeshire area, at least 24 churches are taking part by holding a ‘light and bright’ party.
St John’s church in Lemington Spa will hold a ‘light and bright’ party on Saturday at 6 pm including a bonfire, fireworks, and crafts for families.
St Paul’s church in South Harrow are also inviting children on Monday evening for a ‘Ligh tNight Detectives in the Dark evening’ which promises a fun evening of adventure, games, food and craft.
