The nominees for the 2022 Royal Gospel Music Awards in Uganda were released , and the list includes a mix of established and rising stars in the Christian music scene, the event which was originally meant to happen on December 2022 was rescheduled to 27th & 28th January 2023 at the UCF Auditorium.
According to a press release by RGM the awards ceremony was rescheduled because of a busy schedule in December and requests from people and participants to give ample time for them to participate.
Legendary gospel minister and pastor Wilson Bugembe, fast-rising worship ministers Godfrey Kwezi, Ap. Jonathan Barbara, and longtime Christian music staple Joseph Ngooma are among the nominees.
Singer and songwriter Gabie Ntaate, who made a major impact with her single “Brag about God,” earned four nominations, including Female Artist of the Year. Levixone appears nine times on the ballot this year, with a Song of the Year nomination for his single “Enjoy Yo Blessings.” Coopy Bly earned eight nominations while Dreign and Colifixie received seven nominations each, with the latter being listed in the category of Song of the Year for his collaboration with Coopy Bly titled “Connected.” Lena Price scored six nods, JohnMarie earned five nominations, and Brian Lubega earned four nods.
A number of artists join KaRungi as three-time nominees, including Rachel Namubiru, Jean Peace, Exodus, and Joy Tendo. The Royal Gospel Music Awards in Uganda recognizes and celebrates the best in Christian music, and it promises to be an exciting event for both nominees and fans alike.
